There are few sounds on the DJ circuit today as fresh and innovative as those of DrewG. Based in San Diego, but constantly on the road, this prolific DJ and music producer continues to push dance floors to the limit in clubs both at home and around the world. To describe DrewG’s sound is near impossible because he crosses so many genres in both his production work and live DJ sets. His trademark “Dirty Pop” signature sound is a blend of pop, rock, hip-hop, and EDM. Within the world of Dirty Pop, you’re as likely to hear Rihanna and Pink, as Bon Jovi and Queen, but always with a new spin. Sonic boundaries mean nothing to him – he breaks them week in and week out. To create his sound, Drew often fuses together the unexpected, throwing huge beats and drops into the middle of pop classics. The brand refers nowadays not only to his sound, but also to the bad boy image associated with the Number 1 traveling dance Party in the U.S., as well as the Dirty Pop apparel line.
A DrewG live set is infused with relentless energy. He flows in and out of tracks flawlessly and fans never know what to expect next. Hard kicks and dark electro drops are common trademarks of a Dirty Pop set. DrewG’s production work is no stranger to the Billboard Club Charts. With his producing partner, Brian Cua, he has procured official remixes for some of the hottest music artists in the world, including Beyoncé, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Ke$ha, Britney Spears, Deborah Cox, and Mary J. Blige, just to name a few. Most recently, his commissioned remixes of Beyoncé’s “Blow” and “Pretty Hurts,” Cher’s “I Walk Alone,” and Carmen Electra’s “Werq” have been used by DJs around the globe. More commissioned remixes from these artists are already cued up for the rest of 2014. Even Tiësto — one of the biggest DJs on the planet — has been using his Beyoncé remixes lately.
Amongst the numerous events around the globe that DrewG has played are New York City’s famous Black Party (he’s the youngest DJ ever to play the event, which he’s now done three times), numerous Cherry weekend events in Washington, DC, a 2008 Presidential Inaugural ball for President Barack Obama, Carnival in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Gay & Lesbian Ski Week in Aspen, Colorado, [Elevation] Gay Ski Week in Mammoth Lakes, the Pink Party in Denver, CO, several of Jason Harrigan’s Mardi Gras events in Sydney, Australia, Dunes Resort events in Saugatuck, Michigan, Ascension weekend at Fire Island Pines, and Sand Blast in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
When challenges are thrown at Drew, he channels the lessons behind them into his music. Dirty Pop is a true extension of his artistic self. A true craftsman, DrewG strives to constantly create. With his beats and melodies, he expresses his truth through music. The next chapter of Drew’s career holds exciting promise. As he continues to tour, he strives to keep his legion of supporters satisfied. With Dirty Pop, you never know what you might hear or experience next.
